Derby Details

Start your engines and get ready for the adrenaline-pumping 2025 World Food Derby! This high-octane event combines camaraderie, competition, and charity in a race like no other. Five elite business teams will hit the track, showcasing their speed and dedication to corporate social responsibility.

Donations:

In addition to making food donations, we encourage you to donate to charities and essential items like clothing, school supplies, hygiene care, and personal protection equipment. For donations, you’ll receive 1 point for $1 of value.

Community Service:

All volunteer hours—whether during business hours and on nights and weekends—will count toward your team’s total volunteer time (TVT). You’ll earn 30 points for VTO and TVT completed between January 1 and November 11, 2025. If the VTO and TVT are scheduled by November 11 and completed by December 31, you’ll earn 15 points.

Calculating the Winner:

All points earned are averaged out among the number of people in each group, and the group with highest points wins. Contact members of your community, carriers, vendors, family, and friends and THINK BIG about how you can fundraise. There are no limits!

The NUMBER ONE most important rule:  When it comes to fundraising, there are no rules!!! You and your team are only limited by your willingness and imagination.

Start Your Engines for the 2025 World Food Derby!

We hope your team enjoys the fundraising process together and uses this as a chance to bond while creating something meaningful for your community.

When it comes to the actual rules and guidelines, there are a few you will want to keep in mind:

  1. Team Composition: No limit exists to how many coaches a business group can have. There is also no limit to how many team captains can be at each location or even on a single team. A team can have as few or as many members as it wants.

  2. Charity Choices: Your team can choose to support any food-related or essential needs organization they want. Your team can even opt to support more than one kind of organization. For example, if you have many animal lovers on your team, you can donate human food to a food bank and collect pet food for a shelter as well! It's all essential needs, and it counts! Check with your local food bank about what they will accept. Many will take diapers and pet food, too. Again, 100% up to your team!

  3. Reporting: Bi-weekly reporting is vital to the competition's success. Only through reporting will we be able to keep score and keep everyone up to date on the dashboard. Accurate reporting will help us keep score, and statistics provided during the WFD will also be used in press releases and RFPs to help win new business. Bi-weekly reporting begins during the third and final leg of the event, from September 15, 2025, to November 11, 2025.

  4. Total Volunteer Time: All volunteer hours—whether completed during business hours or on nights and weekends—will count toward your team’s total volunteer time. This includes both VTO (Volunteer Time Off) taken during work hours and any personal volunteer time completed outside of work, such as evenings or weekends.

The reporting schedule is as follows:

TEAM MEMBERS: Report to your team captain on Mondays (9/15, 9/29, 10/13, 10/27, 11/10)

  • How many VTO or Total Volunteer Time (TVT) have you completed from January 1 to date

  • Amount of money and gift cards donated (not including March Madness or Other Corporate Matches)

  • The estimated value of items donated, such as clothing, food, school supplies, etc.

TEAM CAPTAINS: Report your team's activity online on Tuesdays (9/16, 9/30, 10/14, 10/28, 11/11)

  • Team Captains will add up all of their team's reporting from the previous day and report their team's fundraising progress online.

Thursdays following report dates: The World Food Derby will be updated, and everyone can check their rankings.

HOW THE GAME IS SCORED: To keep everything equal, we have created a points system based on the per capita average. The business group with the highest average number of points per person is the winner. This helps keep it a level playing field since the business groups have a size difference.

Points are measured as follows: (Don't worry, we will calculate your points for you)

  • $1 of online, gift card, or cash donations = 1 point.

  • $1 of estimated food and other essential need items value = 1 point

  • 1 hour of total VTO and total volunteer time (TVT) between January 1, 2025, through November 11, 2025 = 30 points (VTO must be reported to payroll to count)

  • 1 hour of TVT or VTO scheduled with the charity and approved by a manager to be completed between November 11 and December 31, 2025, = 15 points. (TVT does not need manager approval)

Get ready for an exhilarating journey of teamwork, charity, and competition in the 2025 World Food Derby! Let's race towards making a difference!
