Last Thursday, the Alliant NorCal Philanthropy team collaborated with Health Joy and Meritain Health at the San Francisco SPCA. The event supported animal welfare and community well-being, involving activities like cuddling animals and preparing for a volunteer appreciation event.

Supporting SFSPCA’s Mission
The SFSPCA places thousands of animals in loving homes each year, offering medical care, rehabilitation, and education to ensure thriving relationships between animals and caregivers. Our team’s involvement alleviated the staff's workload and demonstrated our commitment to giving back.
Volunteering provided insight into the shelter's daily operations, from folding laundry to organizing supplies, essential for a clean and welcoming environment. These behind-the-scenes efforts are crucial for the shelter’s success and often go unnoticed.
A Morning Full of Meaningful Activities
Our day began with puppy and kitten cuddles, bringing smiles and comfort to animals and volunteers. These affectionate moments help socialize the animals, making them more adoptable. We then handled tasks like folding laundry and preparing for a volunteer appreciation event, essential for the shelter's smooth operation. Volunteers help create a supportive atmosphere for staff and animals. Collaborating with HealthJoy and Meritain Health strengthened community ties, showing that collective effort amplifies impact.

Why Volunteering Matters
Volunteering at SFSPCA directly supports animal welfare and community health, benefiting both animals and their caregivers. Our team values these opportunities as they align with our belief in community strengthening through action. This involvement builds empathy and awareness, inspiring more participation. Although we didn't adopt a pet, the experience underscored the importance of supporting local organizations that make a real difference daily.
Looking Ahead to Future Events
We hope to make this volunteering day an annual tradition. Consistent support helps shelters plan better and expand their services. It also fosters a culture of giving within our team and partners.
Planning future events will include more hands-on activities and possibly fundraising efforts to support SFSPCA’s programs. We encourage others to find local organizations where they can contribute their time and skills.
